Oops. Thanks for the gentle test report. It was my bad. I had an extra level of access required beyond basic authentication to use the contact form. I'm working out a multilevel role setup but for now I've turned on the contact form for all members. If anyone gets spammy stuff from anyone but me (ha) let me know as we like to keep things clean around here...maybe too clean for our own good, but so be it. The one guy said the password security test was stronger than his banks. That makes me worry about his bank...and mine. Fortunately I have an identity nobody would want! Anyway, here's hoping the contact form will work OK for members. No point in allowing it for non-members. I did that and you don't want to read the stuff I was catching from that! Or maybe you do, but secretly!

Hey skatey-mark... Thanks for a great read. I love the idea of this event and loved it when I did it with Craig so long ago, but it sure does sound challenging in terms of road surface...and undulations in the 62. Congrats on showing up well in front of the cyclists. Regarding the data, you may be able to convert that data into some format that gpsvisualizer.com can use, and if so, you may be able to produce a speed color map from the data, even without the speed data per se. In other words, I have some vague memory that gpsvisualizer ignores speed data and interpolates for itself based on position and time. It might be worth checking it to see, as I can't recall for sure. Any info you give us on the Polar HRM is likely to be a much read article here, and much valued by those who love skating or cycling and gadgets. As for me I'm probably going to have to stick with the Forerunner 305 for a while, but when there's color model with built in maps, well, who knows...but the price would need to be sweet too. Yes I dream.

I think I'll be there but weather could have an effect and if I were to skate too hard the day before that might zap me too, ha. But it's great stuff and free too, so I'll try to be there to see the team at the start and the tour folk afterward.

Dude, I was looking for you in Iowa.

Your interview video convinced me not to bring a bike.

a2a: I'll race 38. If body still functions in Dacula, I'll skate to Atlanta.

    Thanks for the inspiration.

    Bring your skates next time.

Day 4 was an easy skate day, especially if you stop for the karaoke, the bars, turkey leg, mechanical bull, rock climb, swim and free beer.

Day 7 was easier than some marathons I've skated.

The hockey players from my team plan to skate a couple days next year.

Thanks for the write up about the trail. I hope you get to go out again and test the other sections! It looks beautiful in the photos.

Sounds like it could be a skatey-good time. I sure would like to partake, but always the driving time and possible weather issues play in the back of my mind. Can I leave it as a "we'll see?" But man, 6+ skaters would be really cool, and I owe JonathanS a ton of pulling for bringing me in at Tour de Lions. He pulled the last 7 since I was gassed.

Thanks for the update.  It is truly amazing to see the RSN Community rally around this project.  Just WAY cool.

Thanks for looking out for me on the spam potential.  When skaters click my specific contact links, will they be able to then email me directly?  .....not sure since when I tried it on a dry run I couldn't figure it out.....but hey, I'm not bringing the potato salad to the next MENSA meeting, ya know?  ;-)

I think at least 2 of us should be there, but it's possible the 4 who were there at Clemmons may show up too. That'd be 8 skaters at least. This one's a good one once you get away from the shop a bit. In the old days there were some tricky road surfaces, but last year we went out with a police escort and that was cool (for those who started on time at least). Coming back in it was a busy road yes but better to be on that road than coming down a hill into it. Everything went fine. I remember there was a really sweet roll going out of town too...a nice long smooth fast safe one. Of course we got to climb later, but OK.
