Spring is really here so it's time to stop thinking about signing up for Eddy Matzger's Roadshow workshop and actually do it. The Roadshow will be in the DC area the weekend of May 30 - June 1which is NOT Memorial Day weekend. For details see the web site or contact me off list (patchc@mindspring.com)
This is one of my favorite events each year, and here's my report from 2007. If we do this event, we will of course, be skating it, as the organizers and cyclists have always given us such a warm welcome in the past.
Hey! Here's something I hope will be fun. We're going to have a monthly Skateylove contest with a prize winner selected by drawing (or computer simulation thereof). Were I rich, we'd have amazing prizes. I'm not, so we'll do what we can!
Why oh why didn't I choose to inline skate sooner? After much internal deliberation on gear (skates, wheels, bearings, helmets, gloves, apparrel, hydration source, brake, yada yada yada) it's become apparent that I was putting up roadblocks to perpetuate my procrastination. All the while, local skaters of the Triangle Skating Club were out there doing their thing and having a great time! (http://www.triangletrails.org/ATT.HTM)
No, it's not my award to the one who lost the most weight in the Tour de Georgia. It's for the lamest spectator or other non-cyclist in the tour. There were so many, for such a small audience.

Wow. Really great stuff and sorry to be late on this with the Eddy workshop and guests coming to town, but over time, free internet video and the Tour de Georgia are both getting cooler. As I had to keep telling myself last weekend, I can't leave town right now with lots to do and some of it requiring me to be here, so I will have to enjoy this opportunity from afar it seems. If anyone thinks they want to get a carpool together later in the week, let me know (I know I'm dreamin').

Thanks to a skating newsletter from Londonskaters Mike, here's a link to a video about Cornell University's ice hockey training 'treadmill'. Huh? How'd they get the ice to wrap around like that? ;-)
I wonder why they need a harness to skate uphill? And sure, pavement/wheel friction complicates things, but a pair of inlines plus a hill would probably be cheaper.
Just a quick note to say sorry RSN was down a while. I had a power supply burn out and take along his mother on the way out. Thanks to timv for assistance in the effort to deny it was really dead with various parts to test.
Thanks to tax day for making it all more pressure-packed, and to the USPS folk who were NOT THERE when I arrived with my usual at my usual 11:45 p.m. celebratory time. Sad. Bad enough to not have Krispy Kreme doughnuts and coffee. Worse still to see a lobby and parking lot full of people wondering what's up with that?
I received an email today from Stacey White, part of GT speed team, who is sponsoring the Marathon through the gardens in GA next month. They are involved in a fundraiser to help out Joshua Zalunardo, who was diagnosed with Brain Stem Glioma, a life threatening for of cancer. I know a lot of people on this site support many worthwhile causes and thought I would pass this on. Our money and time goes to help someone and we get to have fun doing it.
I have pasted the contents of her email with all the pertinant info...
