Guy on 91800 Forums and Communities Joins RSN2

roadskater's picture

I thought I was busy! I got a signup request today from someone who has an over-ten-characters-long-double-name-with-no-spaces signup name recognized on Google 91800 times (email me if you're curious). It appears the vast majority of these are forum and community site membership login names.

That's a ton of reading to do! Needless to say, this is one of several signups that I have not approved due to the lack of a human reply from the person signing up. I hope I haven't turned away any skaters or cyclists or other humans except the massposters.

Of course, the long term goal of this person is most likely to post at 3 a.m. on a weekend night and get a message about something to take to change the way your body works. That's what they try on InlineNC, but readers never see those; just me.

I apologize to any human being who doesn't sign up or who signs up and then gets an email from me asking for a human reply, but I need to do all I can to avoid a massive onslaught of unwanted and duplicate postings from folk who are not the least bit interested in our sports and charities or anything else about sharing our lives. I don't blame them for trying what they are trying, and I don't blame me for trying to keep the site clean of their droppings.

I just wish I could get by letting people not even need to sign in to post, comment, or anything else. I know it feels to visitors like a big hassle and like there's some snobby clique who thinks they're so exclusive, and I hate it feels that way to some. I feel that way when I go to a site I'm not sure I'll be interested in more than once and they want me to sign up to do anything. Arrgh!

But I'll choose irrelevant messages from humans (like me) over even relevant adslaughts from these drugdealers.

Please be patient, and if you'd like to join, please do. You'll likely get a message from me asking a bit more about your interest in the site, or some strange question that'd be easy for a human to answer and difficult for a computer to guess, maybe.

Thanks, and skateylove, Blake
