Inline Skating 300 Miles in 24 Hours for Three Charities: Please sponsor me!

[I posted this (with minor edits) for ShabbatSam who is making his way to Canada as I type. If you found it here and decided to donate, please let ShabbatSam know RSN sent you. No we don't get anything but skateylove out of it if you mention us...and that's plenty. Congratulations in advance, ShabbatSam, for your effort. We have at least one Roadskater.net skater, SkateyMark, who will be intensely interested in your progress. --Roadskater]

My Dear Fellow APPR Skaters and A2A Lovers:

As you all know and have experienced, I routinely push the limits of human endurance. But usually it is the limits of human endurance of others, with my OCCASIONALLY lengthy emails or personal stories. This weekend, however, I am pushing my own limits of human endurance. No, I am NOT going to stay up all weekend writing long emails to myself and then reading them!

As some of you know, Montreal has an annual 24 Hour Inline skating event, which is mostly for teams of up to 10 people, but they also have a solo division. And it's not that I am not a team player, but going all the way to Canada to skate 40 miles or so ... not for me.

So I am entered in the solo division. And I am going to try to skate 300 miles in 24 hours. Yes, 300. And I am doing this for my own ego and challenge, but I am also doing it as a fund-raiser for 3 worthy charities.

And I want YOUR money for one of my charities below.  So please sponsor me and follow my updates here...

And this isn't a 5k (25 minutes) or a half-marathon (2 hours) or even a marathon (4.5 hours) or an Ironman 70.3 (7 hours). This is me, skating, possibly non-stop, for 24 hours. Is that not just plain crazy, or what?

So not only do I want your money, if you have some to spare, but I wouldn't mind it if you passed this along to some of your friends and other relatives to donate as well! "Look at what my crazy friend Sam is doing this weekend: trying to skate 300 miles in 24 hours! Please sponsor him so he can get the help he needs!"

Links to the 3 charities (MS, Leukemia/Lymphoma, and Mental Health Counseling) are front and center on my website http://MeSkateYouLongTime.com and you can also follow my progress via twitter @MeSk8ULongTime.
And yes, part of the reason I am doing this is just to have a reason to use Me Skate You Long Time as a domain name, because, Oh, Me So Roll-y!

(And if you don't get the cultural reference, don't worry, there is a page on my website that explains its development in detail ....)

327 miles!

I heard a rumor that Sam notched up 327 miles this past weekend at the 24h Roller Montreal! Congratulations! I can't even begin to imagine how gruelling that must be.
