Part of a series of excellent free skrides (bike rides where skilled inline skaters are welcome) put on by the NC Central Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The rides are well-supported, marked, and free to all, including those who may not end up participating in the annual Tour to Tanglewood for MS (but you will love the training rides so much you'll be more likely to do the tour after trying most training rides). These rides are for beginners who've trained a little and everyone else on up to experts. SAG and rest stop and bike support team are great. These rides are often better than paid rides elsewhere. Give the tour a try!
Sign-In starts at 7:30 a.m. and safety talk about 8:20 a.m. so be ready to roll even though official start is supposed to not be before 8:30 a.m. It's always good to catch a rest room on the way to the hosting shop instead of waiting on the longer lines for relief there.
Ken's skride is a bit more technical for inline skaters, so bring your skills or come volunteer to help at a rest stop with your Roadskater.net jersey on! You'll need some braking or some wheel money for the downhill on the way out that has a short up to a traffic light, and on the way back more skill yet, either at braking, skatewalking or traffic light timing! We've had tons of fun out on the loop over the years, but there's a nice view that leads down to a sweeping right into an NC Highway, so again, brakes or wheel money, plus some quads to put the rubber down...bring 'em. After a short stint on said nice NC road by the Germantown P.O., the fun begins at Red Bank Road, where we've had some of the most beautiful and fun pain ever on the long climb up to the rest stop at the church where the lasso route returns to the out and back portion. It's a tough day out in spaces with lots of great stuff along with it, and a nice mix of urban and rural settings. If you're not a newbie roadskater on hills, this is a fun challenge with plenty of work and yes, a bit o'pain fer ye. Ponder it well, but if you do it, you'll know you did something good.
Unreal - all the training skride dates conflict with other stuff - I just committed to the Beach Blast hockey tournament in Wilm.NC this weekend. Hopefully SkateyBryan will be available and he can show me his Wilm. routes.

Hey that's cool about the beach blast inline hockey tournament. Keep us posted on what you expect and how it goes. I heard from Bryan that they've started a speed team down there too!
Which do you think works best as the single publicized name for the alliance website? The North Carolina Active Transportation Alliance website is in the planning stages. This page lets you vote on domain names and comment on features you might like on the site in advance. Results are tallied by Borda Count, sometimes called "a consensus-based electoral system" where each choice gets a point for every choice ranked below it. Thus, with 9 choices, a 1st place vote gets 8 points. Please click the title for more info and to rank....
Note that if you only vote on the names you really like and leave the rest unranked, you boost those names you prefer, as with no rank at all a name gets no points. The idea is to find the name most wish to promote, and let the rest fall away. Thus, this is a reasonable practice, especially if all are aware of the technique noted here.
You may cancel and revote.
Please vote only once. Although it is possible to game the system by voting anonymously from various IP addresses, we hope you'll vote just once. The way to ensure one vote per person is to require login, but that would also ensure a lower vote participation and one biased toward people willing to sign up for a website in general, and specifically a webiste about skating and cycling for charity.
ARG, another "Trainer" missed
