athens to atlanta is the premier ultramarathon roadskate in the usa with a tradition of 25 consecutive years for this 87-mile inline and quad road skating classic. starting at the classic center in athens, ga, the route follows the country roads to dacula where the 38-mile shorter course completes. another shorter route, the 52-miler, runs along much of the course starting near dacula, winding through busy gwinnett county to stone montain village and clarkston, finishing in Piedmont Park with the full distance skaters. This is a great event and the perfect companion to piedmont North Carolina's Tour to Tanglewood, a 2-day 90-mile tour (not a race) with another real test: 87 miles in one day in the seriously rolling hills of piedmont Georgia!
