We went out for a 2008 fall equinox day skate in the afternoon, having planned
to rise early. After a night of mapmaking, I could not get up and go, so it was
toward the end of day, but what a pleasureful afternoon we had amid yellow and
white and violet flowers in the deep green wrinkles between Greensboro and Belews
creek. We had fond memories of Tour de Triad, including the time Mike brought the
rest stop to us after we passed it because it was downhill at the fire station, and
hit some hills on the way out and back. It was a fun, hard but easy skate, as we decided we
wanted to check out some roads and take some photos and burn calories, but we
didn't care so much how fast we went or how many stops there were. Along the way
we had lots of smiles and very few woes, with some neat surprises, like the horse
shoe we found, the recliner by the road, the stuffed bear sitting on a log, and
some really sweet stretches of meandering roadway. Some if not all of this will
become part of our regular roadskating if we're lucky, as it's great stuff, and
this was a great day out sharing the road and the sites by the way. Come join us!
