Fabian Cancellara Wins Tour of California Prologue: Levi Leipheimer 2nd, David Zabriske 3rd, Armstrong 10th

OK I got back just in time to watch some of the eventual leaders come in. Svein Tuft hung on for 9th, and finished ahead of Lance Armstrong, who finished 10th, by a tenth of a second or so. Something to remember for Tuft, I'm sure. At the front, it's no surprise the Fabian Cancellara was tops. Levi was 2nd, 1.2 seconds behind. It had begun to rain lightly by the time Floyd Landis and Levi Leipheimer had hit the course, so I wonder if Levi might have done a touch better without that spinkles...but that's racing, as they say.

Watch Tour of California 2009 Bike Race Pro Cycling Live Free Internet GPS Maps Standings Finish Times Course Profiles

Yes it will be live on Vs. network, but I don't get that, having given up cable vision (though I still have cable internet, hoping to ditch that for fiber optic). It appears there'll be live video (at least one stream) plus gps tracking and timing and placement info on the tracker section of the official site... http://tracker.amgentourofcalifornia.com/ This article is about the technology used for the official tracker site...

Adam Sandler & Keri Russell Inline Skating (Rollerblading) on Santa Monica Movie Set

Hey nothing huge here, but maybe inline skating will get a boost from "Bedtime Stories," a movie in production and recently filming in Santa Monica, if my sources (ha, see below) are correct. I'm guessing these are K2 4x90s or 4x100s?...

USA CPSC and Specialized Recall Model 2D Skate/Bike Helmet (Bicycling/Inline Skating)

If you've seen that Specialized helmet that looks like is has a shark's mouth on the front, you may want to mention to the person who owns it that they should consider getting a free refund or replacement from the company, and that even if they don't do that, to seriously consider not using it any more.

If you don't know what helmet I mean by my description, check for the model 2D written on the rear contours above the ZED in SPECIALIZED. This item is from fuzidave on the Pegasus list and thanks to him for that.

Grandma Remembers Soldier Who Loved Rollerblades and Cars

Here's a story of warm memories of a grandson who loved inline skating and driving fast. This 23-year old fellow recently lost his life during his second deployment in Iraq. It's nice to know how wonderfully he's remembered, and I love how people remember their loved ones' love of skating. I like how the story is about this young person, not about the other topics to which it could have drifted.

Sacramento CA Mayor Fargo Continues with Multiple Sclerosis

Sacramento Mayor, Heather Fargo, recently told the world she has had MS for about a decade. She first found out when going for diagnosis regarding her feet going to sleep. She plans to run for another term at least, and doesn't expect remission, which means she will likely have progressively more difficulty walking as time goes by.

Human-Powered Circumnavigation by Pedalboat, Bike & Inline Skates (Rollerblades)

I'm so glad someone is living some of our dreams for us as we live some of theirs for them!

Jason Lewis is a British trekster (supertrekker some say) who has spent part (all?) of the last 13 years circling the earth by pedalboat, bike and inline skates, often joined by a friend on his journey. It seems the goal is to use neither wind nor motors in his quest.
