Skater Felt Burning Sensation in Her Chest: After Several Coronary Microvascular Disease Heart Attacks, Skates Five Days a Week

Even if you feel healthy and are active, this skater's story points out that it's important to know and pay attention to symptoms, then to seek attention when you feel an out of the ordinary pain or discomfort. Then after an initial diagnosis, when pain returns, get more diagnosis! At a time when I let a lot of things keep me from going skating, this woman is an inspiration to exercise and to seek help if I feel similar symptoms. Other brief stories here tell how others have faced their heart attacks.

Athens to Atlanta Roadskate A2A 2007 Inline Skate Report (Saturday)

Saturday broke late and fuzzy, thank goodness, and it was likely eleven a.m. before verticalizing. I went to the computer for some reason and eebee helped a great deal with finding a place to get the window fixed. We decided we'd be too nervous to leave the car unrepaired at the hotel and in the city garage, as we'd need to leave some little something most likely no matter how we tried to plan.

Santa and Skating to Work up Pleasant Hill

Yesterday Santa Claus came into the office where I work, to buy some German products. No kidding. A  man with silky long white hair and beard walked in, said he was Santa and that he'd ambled 2.5 miles from the Waffle House up on Pleasant Hill Road. And no, not in the snow. It was on the tip of my tongue to ask "What, no reindeer?".

2006 A2A Journals

In 2006, the weather was light rain before the event, wet roads in the first thirty miles or so, with sunshine most of the day. The temperature in Atlanta was 60 at start time, rising to 74 by noon, reaching 80 by 2 pm and 82 degrees by 4 pm. Winds were light in the morning and from the south, rising to around 10 mph from the west at midday, dropping then peaking again to 10-12 in midafternoon from the north. Please add your story to this chapter of the Athens to Atlanta History Project! After you've written and posted your story, use the Outline tab to select "2006 A2A Journals" as the parent of your article.
