Skating American Tobacco Trail, plus Toad the Wet Sprocket and Mark Kano of Athenaeum at Cat's Cradle Aug 10 2011

I'm in Chapel Hill at the Panera. I came down to do something near Cat's Cradle in Carrboro this morning. Then I was (and am) planning to do the American Tobacco Trail Wednesday night social skate, as I hear Jay from Atlanta may be rolling in, and Tom GotSkates is likely there, plus skatey-mark and more.

On the way into town I saw a bus that looked like a rock band bus...nice, but not announcing who they are...toting a trailer, too. I wondered who it might be, figuring they were on the way to the Cradle.

Newby looking for group skate

Been doing Triathlon for about 5 years pretty seriously, loved it, but been there done that now and looking for something new. Picked up some fitness RollerBlades and been out a few times. doing pretty well, actually really enjoying. Looking to meet up with like minded folks for group skates anywhere in the triangle area. Still a Newby but always looking to learn from others.

National Take A Tourist Skating Day!

I’ll be up in the Chapel Hill area visiting family for the Easter weekend. Anybody up there wanna take a tourist skating somewhere? When I’m in that area I skate the athletic trails along Hwy. 54 (near the Friday Center). I’d love to see some of your guys’ favorite territory. Saturday afternoon/evening would work best.

WUNC Covers Human Powered Transportation, Fear, Safety, Exercise, Health, Biking, Walking and (Silently) Skating

I don't know if anyone heard this live, but WUNC had a piece on about bicycle, pedestrian and other human powered transportation issues (OK they said people powered) today. The piece mentioned the American Tobacco Trail, Durham and Raleigh, and efforts to improve safety, since it seems to be the common thread among those who'd "like to" but don't.... Here's the page...
