Shani Davis Wins Silver and Gold in Speed Skating World Championships; Tyler Farrar leads Tirreno-Adriatico Cycling Stage Race

roadskater's picture

Just some quick notes here to remind that the World Single Distance Championships are under way in speed skating (they seem to like to have several kinds of world championships, ha!), and the Tirreno-Adriatico cycling race started yesterday with a team time trial. I followed the T2A (as we roadskaters might dub it) in past years and found it very entertaining, through territory reminiscent of the mountains of NC as I recall.

In the skating, it seems the Dutch have been spoiling the fun of many a bit by winning so much, but Shani Davis continues to be among the very best even on an off day (which is any day he's not the very best in the 1000m and 1500m I guess). Check out the venue to the right! Photo by sk@te on Wikipedia, source info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ludwig-Schwabl-Stadion_Inzell.jpg.

I should say Lindsay Vonn was mentioned in this article too, about skis, skates and wheels. Universal Sports spoils their own content. How strange how hard it is to watch one of their events online without finding out the winner first. Even if I avoid television, roadskater.net sidebar, newspapers and conversation, I still often discover the winner without wanting to. It might still be worth watching, but it certainly changes the experience. Oh well. They pay big money to be able to deliver it (or not) their way!
