From Skatetown USA 1979 to Bold and Beautiful Brooke and Hunter Tylo's Trout Pout

OK you know I love connections, but this is ridiculous. I didn't know there was a skate connection here. I just happened to run across The Bold and the Beautiful on my way across channels, looking for something interesting for a midday break. I have a rule against ever watching any soap operas unless they're in a language I don't understand or cleverly disguised as a night-time continuing drama, like with film-quality production values at least.

Anyway, imagine my surprise after all these years to see the two characters from many years ago, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Taylor (Hunter Tylo), still orbiting Ridge (Ronn Moss). They had always been in contrasting, competing roles, but I was so shocked at the contrast between the two women these days it was hard to watch. If Katherine Kelly Lang has had plastic surgery work done, kudos to the master artist who did it, for it is a natural look at least. Unfortunately, Hunter Tylo's look is just out of this world, as in alien. If I recall from younger days, Tylo seemed the more natural looking in the old days. Now it's like she's vying for a lead singing job in Aerosmith or something.

It turns out Tylo has even made one of eebee's fave webs about awful plastic surgery. I too find it good for when there's not enough time to take in a whole movie's worth of disaster, but you still would like to get a taste of tragedy and diversion from the here and now. Here are some pics of Tylo on AwfulPlasticSurgery.com. While at it, check out the companion site, GoodPlasticSurgery.com.

Well there's no doubt that Hunter Tylo is up to good things with Retinoblastoma International, and I wish her well with that. I just can't understand how someone with natural good looks could be so convinced of the need to get the wind tunnel trout treatment.

I didn't find anyone saying that Katherine Kelly Lang had work done, but I did find this page mentioning her, and then I found out she was in one of the disco movies of the 70s with quite a varied cast, called Skatetown U.S.A.:

  • Scott Baio (Chachi)
  • Flip Wilson (awesome comedian of my youth)
  • Patrick Swayze
  • Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady)
  • Ruth Buzzi (famous of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In), and
  • Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke of B&B)

Anybody seen it? I only found a brief clip from Skatetown U.S.A., but maybe I'll find an old VHS on eBay if I don't forget. Ha!

Aside from all this, did anyone notice Katie Couric last night in comments after the President spoke about sending more troops to Iraq? I was on the phone with eebee and asked if she noticed and we agreed that it looked like one side of Couric's face was kind of numb or asymmetrical or something, and her head was tilted a bit oddly as well. She spoke fine and I never look at her closely, but I had never noticed anything like this during the Olympics, for example. I don't know what that's about but maybe a bad Botox injection could be to blame for that. Hope it is nothing lasting or serious.

Why I like it when Celebs get Surgery

Please let me explain...I run to www.awfulplasticsurgery.com whenever my self-respect needs a boost. I mean really, if all those naturally beautiful and talented people think they are inadequate or unsightly enough to actually maim or permanently contort their features (Meg Ryan, Melanie Griffith, Farrah Fawcett, etc.), then my levels of self-hatred must not yet be anywhere close to the bottom of the chart. So then I can cross off 'hate myself for hating myself' from my mental beat-up list.

Don't give me that junk about Hollywood ageism - look at Diane Keaton! And if you can't get an acting job because your human being cells are sagging, join the rest of us and get a normal job. Katie Couric, however, does look like she's had a stroke or something.

Yep, after each visit to awfulplasticsurgery.com, I'm always uplifted and very happy to be me.
