Tour to Tanglewood Roadskater.net Team Prologue Fri Sep 8 2006

Just a quick note about the prologue we have for team members to meet each other on Fri, Sep 8, 2006 at 5 pm.
This is optional but really great if you can do it so you can meet the team, hear our special tour route updates, make sure you understand everything for the weekend, etc.
OK I need quick numbers on 1 thing:

Tribble Mill Park, Grayson, GA

Any skaters who find themselves amongst the lonely mansions and shiny metal boxes of Gwinnett County, GA, might want to check out Tribble Mill Park as a little piece of heaven plus hills.

Great Coverage of Hudson River West Side Path

Albeit laced with sad news of two deaths of cyclists on Houston (pronounced howstun) and on the Hudson River Path (locally often called the West Side Path), the New York Times has some great coverage, as expected. As glorious as it is, the West Side Path has its dangers, especially on speed skates or among those who are trying to use it for training (unless you like fartlek training). But it's an incredibly important improvement to the quality of life and health on the island, and just tons of fun. The NYT article covers a nice balance of what's great about it and why it's important to be careful, not blaming either motorists or trail users. It also points to a few of the specific tough spots and how they might be made better. Some of the most fun I've ever had has been on and around the West Side Path, thanks to Empire Skate Club folk and the Wednesday Night Skate group too. Here are some links. You may have to do a free signup, but I think it's worth it for the quality content on the nytimes.com site...

Old Battleground Road at Guilford Battleground NMP: Easy to Fix Danger

Greensboro wants to get bigger and better. Well there's no point in getting bigger if we don't get better, is there?

I applaud Greensboro and Guilford County and the Piedmont Triad Council of Governments for their efforts for bike-ped plans and greenways. I applaud BIG and as ever Tour to Tanglewood hero Dale of Cycles de Oro.
