Periodization and the Offseason - Or An Attempt Not To Lose It All

Lose all what, exactly? I can't say that this year's training and peaking event season has left me particularly buff, but I would like to retain what little muscle-tone and muscle-memory I did achieve. After some digging around online, I found an article by Rob Bell on inlineplanet, uploaded a few years ago: Periodization Training, Part 1: How to Make the Most of Your Training.

Bell separates the training calendar into these phases:

Do Speed Skate Bearing Spacers Serve a Useful Purpose or Can We Roll the Roads Without Them

I've been wondering about speed skate bearing spacers today. Like these:

I was outside looking through the bucket of wheels and zip bags of bolts, washers, spacers and other various hardware I've collected just in case I might need it. My goal was to set up three sets of wheels with bearings and spacers so I could do relatively quick swaps to see how they felt in comparison as best I could.

Help! I Need an Inline Skate Shop Location and Recommendation Near Schaumburg, IL (Chicago)

Hi,
My name is Mike.  I am living in Schaumburg, IL, USA. I am just in a northwest suburb of downtown Chicago.
I am new here in the forum and at roadskater.net.
I am trying to find a shop or store where they sell inline speed skates, such as Bont Semi or Luigino or Powerslide.
Can anyone help me?  I would like to know about the location of the store or shop near my place or in Chicago Downtown.
Thank you for all your help.

Inline Skating (Rollerblading) Drills from Eddy Matzger Roadshow Worskhop and more

Here's a book to collect what we remember about Inline Speed Skating drills from Eddy Matzger workshops and other places (Barry Publow workshops, elsewhere). Please contribute! Feel free to ask questions.

Try InlineNC Inline Skating (Rollerblading) Email Group

RSN2 is not for everybody, obviously, and I just wanted to mention that wherever you are in the world, if you prefer the semi-private atmosphere of an email group, you might check out my InlineNC Yahoo! group. We're up to 266 members now, and while the level of posting varies throughout the year, it's almost always about skating (events, equipment, technique, travel, training, charity, more). Members get access to the archive, which is a glorious attic of treasures from our collective past, filled with tips and tricks and tales of woe and inspiration.

Greensboro: A Great Eddy Matzger RoadShow Inline Speed Skating Workshop Apr 6-8 2007

Hi to all. Some have asked about the workshop in Greensboro and I wanted to share some brief details.

We don't publish locations in advance publicly for several reasons, mostly so the workshop can maintain a bit of privacy. We'll almost certainly be at our previous location but I'll be checking that site and some others as traffic patterns and building zones have shifted somewhat.

Special Offer for the Free Raleigh Inline Skating Speed Workshop for Charity!

Signups for the inline skating (rollerblading, speedskating) workshop have been pretty light, so I have a special deal for anyone that might be "on the fence"...

Email me by Tuesday, March 20, to reserve your place in the workshop.  You do not need to make a donation before the inline skating workshop.  Attend the workshop on March 24th in Raleigh, NC.  If, after the workshop, you do not feel like it was worth your time, do not feel obligated to donate anything.  If, however, you do feel like the workshop was worthwhile, then please make a donation my MS Society Tour to Tanglewood fundraising effort.
