Grand Teton National Park Path Allows Inline Skating, Seeks Trail Volunteer Ambassadors: Inline Skaters Here's Your Chance!

This is just a brief note to point out another place on Department of Interior land where inline skating is specifically encouraged, unlike out beautiful Guilford Courthouse National Military Park.

But what a beautiful place to travel to for inline skating! Click the photo for another article on this subject...

Photos from the Wednesday Night Skate on the American Tobacco Trail August 10 2011

We had a great time with Jay up from Atlanta. With Skatey-Mark leading out then serving as sweep alternately, I think in all we had seven, including GotSkates Tom. I don't think I can call all the names, sadly, so I'd better stop there. But two others I know I have skated the trail with before, and one of the guys besides Mark had done the Carolina Century before as well. It was a fun bunch and I enjoyed not being in charge or on home turf but being a visitor.

We saw lots of cyclists including roadies and kids, and lots of families out using the trail. But it always felt good, never negative, to me. I guess I was in the middle most of the time, sometimes going up to the front and others going all the way back. It was a great time.

Skating the Full Silver Comet and Chief Ladiga Trail Again: 94 Miles of Hot Fun in Georgia and Alabama

Driving down from North Carolina late at night, I asked eebee to post a note to the APRR (Atlanta Peachtree Road Rollers) list inviting people to join us for a long slow distance skate the next day, or perhaps the day after. We had earlier this year done our favorite 62-miler from Mile 0 near Nickajack Elementary School to mile 31 at Brushy Mountain Tunnel and back.

A Quick Warning and Alternate Routes for the Silver Comet Trail Section Between Cedartown GA and Rockmart GA

Three of us did the full skate from mile 0 of Silver Comet outside Atlanta, GA to the end of Chief Ladiga Trail just inside Anniston, AL yesterday. My GPS's said it was 94.92 miles including a few side trips and fun backtracks. Thanks to Tom B for joining us and especially his wife and kids for driving out to retrieve us. Also thanks to Jonathan K for a nice offer of retrieval as well.

Letter to the North Carolina Bicycle Pedestrian Advocacy Group

Hi to all:

I'm the "inline skater" that suggested Walk'n'Roll NC (or Walk&Roll NC with a big fat sexy ampersand). I also have skin, breathe, walk, drive, eat, sleep, and much more.

To those brave enough to speak against inline skaters being included in the NC Bike Ped coalition or whatever your current name, thanks for saying what you're thinking. I'd rather deal with open discrimination than secrets and lies. Thanks for your courage. I'm sure many agree with you.
