Television Weather Girl Skates Away Birth Pounds Preparing for Inline Skating the Goodwood Roller Marathon on Motor Circuit

Let the hot button pressing phrases begin. This article is a true kiss-kiss but it sure does speak well for the benefits of inline skating! Off we go.

First, of course, we learn that Ms. McCabe is "never been one to shy away from a challenge" and is "back in her size 10 jeans and has just completed a 27-mile rollerblade marathon." She is of course, "loving life and despite juggling motherhood and a busy career."

That's a beautiful life. Almost like a movie. How was the training? Oh you took your baby skating? Seems like it. “Every weekend, I had my rollerblades on pushing the pram through our local park and trying not to fall over.” Good job you didn't tip over the pram! Well no harm no foul. I'm sure baby wore a helmet.

A 3,500 Calorie Deficit to Lose a Pound of What, Exactly?: Cutting Back Calories Carefully to Lose Fat Instead of Muscle

Roadskater posed the question briefly during one of our recent Silver Comet Trail skates: "What's that calorie-per-pound number again?". I believed I knew the subject well until I started to try to talk about it, whereby I realized the 3,500 number pertains only to fat loss. So I made a note to revisit an article I had read by Tom Venuto, on fitwatch.com.

Venuto refers to a study by Dr. Kevin Hall (an 'investigator' at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD) published in the International Journal of Obesity sometime in 2008, researching the 'mechanisms regulating human body weight'.

Feeling Satisfied -- Taking the Long View

Raise your hand if you can name the road that is paved with good intentions. I’ve taken that to mean that in most cases, my actions are far more important than my intentions or my words. But when it comes to my diet, I’ve learned that “intentional eating” is the single most important part of my success.

Brett Michaels and Butter Fat: Day 73

I confess. I love Brett Michaels. It's Day 73 of my Brain/Body Makeover, and I'm in the middle of Part I of the Celebrity Apprentice Season Finale. I'm working through a backlog or recorded shows. I can only manage about an hour a day of TV now that I'm active and feeling healthy.

Tater Rides Again: Country Park and the Scotland Neck Country Roads Bike Tour

If your weight is keeping you on the couch and off your bike (or skates), I've got the ride for you. Thanks to the wide reach of the Tour to Tanglewood, an annual skating and cycling event that raises money for Multiple Sclerosis, I met a group called "The Taters" a few weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon when I was unpacking my bike to ride at Greensboro's Country Park. Roadskater and eebee were out of town and I was determined not to miss a chance to ride on one of the first sunny and very warm days of spring.

Lower BMI Makes for a Great Night's Sleep: Slimmer Body Mass Index Helps Insomnia, Snoring

It's Day 71 of the Brain/Body Makeover and I've become one of those very annoying morning people. I've been in Bellefonte, PA, since Thursday evening, visiting my oldest and dearest childhood friend and her family. Their experience of me pre-Brain/Body Makeover was one of tip-toeing around in the mornings so as not to wake "Aunt M" from a deep and often loud (my brother says I snore like a farm animal) sleep. This morning, I was up before my alarm -- it was set for 7:15. I had my tea kettle on by 7 a.m. and danced around in the kitchen while I waited for my water to boil.

Body Mass Index (BMI) Out of the Danger Zone: Cycling for Brain & Body Makeover

It's Day 67 of my brain/body makeover and I'm happy to report a 20-pound weight loss as of today. Hitting my first major milestone seemed liked the perfect time to kickoff my blog on roadskater.net.
