The Tour de Kale 2007 rolled out on a cool and cloudy but dry day from Denton Farm Park (farmpark). The photos here are from the 60K or 35 mile route, as that's the one we skated. Cyclists and organizers alike made us very welcome and told us to please bring more skaters next year. We'll be happy to do that if we can, because this is a special event. The amount of community support is incredible, the number of volunteers amazing, the SAG and emergency and rest stop coverage great, the rolling course challenging, and the traffic low and cooperative. It's clear that Tour de Kale is for great causes and the local folk know it and come out to support us as we have fun and sweat for a great cause. Along with Tour de Lions, Tour de Kale is an event made to help people in the community make it through tough times to a better day when they can make it on their own again. The finish line was great and we had lots of friendly help, plenty of water, and cool wet towels to cool off and get rid of some road grime. With barbecue and fixin's included, lunch was a treat, and we really enjoyed looking at the farm machinery and buildings in the park, which is all on a really nice plot of land. On the way home we took a detour to check out the Pisgah Covered Bridge, built in 1911 (washed away in 2003 and rebuilt mostly with original materials).
