Tour to Tanglewood overnight accommodations

Tour to Tanglewood is only 3 weeks away!  Woohoo!!!

 

Friday night I have reservations at the Hilton Garden Inn, a couple miles away from the start.  (4307 Big Tree Way, Greensboro, NC)  The Hampton Inn (around the corner from the start) was booked solid.  My girlfriend is using Hilton points, so HGI was the closest Hilton hotel after the Hampton...  I didn't check availability on anything else, but I've stayed at the Days Inn (maybe 1/2 mile from the start) in years past and it was okay.

 

If you do a hotel search, check the distance from Volvo Trucks (where we start Saturday morning).  The address there is:  7900 National Service Rd, Greensboro, NC 27409-9416

 

Saturday night I plan on camping, as usual.   That is, unless the weather is bad.  So every year I make a "backup reservation", just in case.  A few days before TTT, I'll check the weather forecast and cancel the reservation if the weather looks good.  The TTT website has a list of nearby hotels to pick from.  They run a shuttle to & from these hotels, so you don't have to worry about transportation.

If you want to look for your own hotel, the address of Tanglewood Park is:  4061 Clemmons Rd, Clemmons, NC 27012-8481 

 

My reservation is at the Village Inn.  Whichever hotel you pick, be sure to mention you're with Tour to Tanglewood.  At least with the Village Inn, the event rate was $5 cheaper than the cheapest price I found online.  (Event rate:  $64/night)

 

However, I do encourage camping if you're up for it!  I think it adds something to the experience, and it would be great to have a group us camping together...

Thanks for posting hotel info

I was working on an update, but this is better. I recommend the southwest corner of the intersection of NC68 and I40 for Friday night and optional Sunday stayovers. We've had good luck for the most part with all of the Clemmons hotels, but probably use Village Inn most often as it's the "local" option. Shuttles run to all the hotels in Clemmons and back to Tanglewood Saturday afternoon and evening and again Sunday morning. Other shuttles are available but check with the tour website for more info on that. I'm finding Google maps does a good job of presenting "hotels near x" where x is the address or other searchable feature.

Thanks for the heads up fellers. Fri night = early registration for TTT from 5pm - 8pm at Volvo.......then check in at Best Western literally 2 blocks from event. Sat night = Village Inn you guys are life savers as rooms are booking fast!
