USA CPSC and Specialized Recall Model 2D Skate/Bike Helmet (Bicycling/Inline Skating)

roadskater's picture

If you've seen that Specialized helmet that looks like is has a shark's mouth on the front, you may want to mention to the person who owns it that they should consider getting a free refund or replacement from the company, and that even if they don't do that, to seriously consider not using it any more.

If you don't know what helmet I mean by my description, check for the model 2D written on the rear contours above the ZED in SPECIALIZED. This item is from fuzidave on the Pegasus list and thanks to him for that.

Check with Specialized toll-free at (877) 808-8154 or visit www.specialized.com for more info, or just see your Specialized dealer. The reference is:

Maybe there's more to it

"[xxx] Recalls Bicycles Due to Fall Hazard" Yeah, you can fall when you're riding a bike. People are surprised by this? "Huffy Recalls Bicycles Due To Cranks Falling Off; Riders Can Lose Control of Bike" OK, I can see how that would be a problem. "Lefty Forks Can Break Unexpectedly" As opposed to what? Do bicycle forks fail *expectedly*? "Oh, I see that my front wheel has fallen off. I've been waiting for that to happen." And as Dale Brown pointed out in a mailing list discussion, you'll know if you have the affected helmet because it cost you something in the neighborhood of $200. It's the newest and whizziest and most absurdly expensive Specialized model, not many out there (yet? everz?)
